A perk of showing your love for food while being a blogger? Being invited to openings & tastings at restaurants. I can’t say no to good food & there was plenty of that to be had at the tasting last week at Main Kitchen & 806 Lounge in Downtown Houston!

Some stand outs that I can’t wait to go back & have again include the avocado toast. Yes, roll your eyes but avocado toast done right is such an amazing thing. Micah accompanied me to this tasting & was totally smitten with Main Kitchen’s avocado toast. So that’s a win in my book. And while I’d be nibbling on Micah’s avocado toast, I’d order the Texas Eggs Benedict for myself. The Texas Eggs Benedict includes all the classics but with their house smoked brisket & topped with a dab of BBQ sauce, it’s sure to hit the spot.

One thing I didn’t expect to like? The vegetarian pizza, when I hear vegetarian pizza I want to roll my eyes thinking it will be crammed with onions & peppers. But then walks in this pizza with BROCCOLI on it, like an actual veggie. And I took one bite, my eye lit up…it also had sun dried tomatoes! HEAVEN, that touch of sweetness brightened up this wonderful pizza into a well rounded pie. We won’t talk about how many slices I had, if you saw my IG stories from that day..you know I rolled onto my bed as soon as I came home from the event.

And if you’ve never had mexican street corn…well we can talk later about that. But Mexican street corn, fancied up a bit? Uh yes please! Their Mexican street corn is made with chili mayonnaise, served with taro chips & then topped with Cotija.

And last of all, we were presented with an amazing array of desserts that had everyone at the table behaving like giddy school girls. It was like Willy Wonka himself made our desserts, they were creative, beautiful & had so many elements that looked to be decor but were actually edible. AMAZING!
