Y’all I love IKEA, with a pinch of imagination they have some pieces that can really be transformed. And then they just have some great pieces in general, our sofa from IKEA (the Karlstad sectional, which is discontinued now) is holding STRONG  & still looks really awesome!  So when I needed a bit extra storage in my kitchen I picked up the Ikea FÖRHÖJA Kitchen Cart& then got to scratching my head on how to get it to blend into my kitchen a bit more.

But that birch wasn’t cutting it in my kitchen. So I took to quickly painting the bottom white & staining the butcher block top to add some warmth to my kitchen. Well that took it up a whole notch but then I had a bolt of inspiration hit, I hate how there’s no hiding anything. Even with baskets, it still looks a bit of a mess…I mean I can only do so much & keep my insanity in place. See as Emily demonstrates that there is just no hiding 😉

So with a 3 – 10″x1″x5′ boards & 9 cuts we had a piece where I could contain the madness! With a light sanding & slapping on a quick few coats of white paint…we were done!

It was so easy I feel bad even giving it a whole blog post, BUT I hope to inspire you if you are have a similar problem. And another way I like using this cart is for parties! I use to put a table cloth over it to contain the contents & now I can just push it against a wall for an instant table to hold part snacks & drinks! HOORAY!
