I’ve been so excited to share this post with y’all! I love finding ways to keep my money in check, it’s something that wasn’t talked about growing up but that’s not something I want to continue. I love being open about money with my kids & we openly talk about financial goals along with how it isn’t always easy or fast to get to those long terms goals. So today I get to talk about some ways we take control of our finances. This post is sponsored by Regions Bank member FDIC.

#1 – Find a Bank You Love!

I know, love sounds like a strong word for a bank. But your banking is an essential part of your everyday life, from buying groceries to saving a little everyday for an amazing vacation. Well, Regions is excited about growing and offering more of its award-winning service in the Houston area! So you can have a bank you love! Instead of featuring a traditional teller line, customers will be welcomed directly bya Regions Banker who can help customers with all of their branch-banking needs. Regions Bankers can provide a variety of services ranging from cashing checks and accepting deposits to opening savings and checking accounts, to helping customers develop plans to reach their long-term financial goals.

Through online, Regions mobile channels, or face-to-face in the branch, Regions is committed to helping customers reach their financial objectives! Be ready to talk about your goals, budget, and any financial concerns that are keeping you up at night.

#2 – Keep Policies In Order

One thing I cringe at is when I ask someone when the last time they updated their electric, car insurance policy or phone contract. I actually dropped the ball this month by forgetting to check in about my renewed car insurance policy, my old rate went up by over DOUBLE. Y’all, double? So, I quickly went online got a handful of quotes, grabbed one that was even more affordable & cancelled my old policy after they couldn’t help get the rate down. I also do this for our electric, switching electricity companies take a quick 15 minutes of comparing rates. An easy way to remember when these dates pop up is to write them in your calendar or set a reminder on your phone.

#3 – Try A No Spend Month

This is an amazing way to pin point just were you can cut back & change some habits that you’ve been meaning to shake. Everyone has different rules when it comes to no spend months, from cutting out any drive-throughs, to cutting out any new clothes. It’s all up to you on which items to cut, cutting anything that is a WANT can help you appreciate what you’ve already have & focus on a plan to save that extra money for future plans.

  1. That No Spend month is good- but I think I might need to start out with a week first! I’m quite sure we would see plenty of spots we could save in, to be fair.
