I just love this time of year & getting my home decorated for cozy nights in with the family. I wanted to share some of my favorite tips for decorating for the holidays & if you’re looking to refresh your holiday decor I’d suggest Gordman’s! They have SO much beautiful decor & are giving back to St. Jude this holiday season, to see how you can help check out the bottom of this blog post.

Create a Theme

I love how creating a theme can streamline the whole decor process seamlessly. This year on my console table I stuck to only houses & trees while my flocked tree I only added pink & silver ornaments. Both create a very intentional look without having to overthink anything, this is also great when having the kiddos help you with decorating because they can find all the similar items for you & become little helpers. I have tons of decor from collecting it over the year, so I will base any new themes on whatever I have on hand.

Layering Holiday Decor

Layering is what sets apart a whole look! For my garland over my mantel, I’ve collected different types of garland over the past few years & have FINALLY come up with the perfect combination of garland to bring it to life. I’ve created this look with different types of tree branches, glitter ball picks, a layered of flocked garland & two types of lights (twinkle & regular Christmas strands).

Circling back on the layering of lights, a big impact without a big impact on the budget is adding a larger (vintage-esque) or smaller (twinkle) lights to your tree and garland. I heard about this trick years ago & didn’t think it would be such a big deal but it’s one of my FAVORITE ways to add layers to my holiday decor.

Don’t Take it so Seriously

It’s Christmas decor, don’t take it too seriously. It should make you smile, it should provide a cozy glow during the long winter nights & it should be something that helps you create memories with your family. So put on some festive tunes, make some hot cocoa & enjoy decorating with the family!

One Easy Way To Give

One of my favorite stores to pick up holiday decor (I picked up some great wrapping paper too!) is Gordmans & they are partnering with St. Jude during the holiday season to raise money to help fight childhood cancers and pediatric diseases. It’s so easy to get involved at your local Stage store or online, Gordman’s is selling a teddy bear named Bella at $9.98 and $2 from every sale is donated to St. Jude. These teddy bears making the sweetest gifts that give back! ALSO! From November 1-December 31, Stage and Gordmans will donate $1 to St. Jude for each Instagram feed post with #BearsThatCare hashtag! Want more info on how to give back? Check it out on the Stage website.
