One of my absolute favorite breakfast is oatmeal since I found Post Better Oats a few years ago. They’re the easiest thing to make, you don’t even need a measuring cup! You just fill the pouch the oatmeal is in with water! And I’ve even made the pickiest of non-oatmeal loving people fall in love with it, especially the Steel Cut brown sugar with protein.
But sometimes you need to make your oatmeal less boring. No matter how delicious it is, it can get boring. So here are three things I like to do to get out of my oatmeal rut.
USE MILK INSTEAD OF WATER : I’m not big on milk, I hardly ever consume it but once in awhile I’ll subsitute the water for milk & boy oh boy is it tasty. I’ve successfully used whatever milk we have on hand (whole, 2%, almond, soy, coconut), so no need to pick anything extra up.
ADD IN NUTS: it adds great texture & flavor. I usually just use whatever I have in my pantry from cooking or baking.
Fruit is always a winner: raid your fridge (or even freezer) for some berries or even slice up a banana for a whole ‘nother level of oatmeal. This is my favorite way to use up those bits of berries hanging around the fridge.
