New year, same finances? NAH! Getting your finances in order should be at the top of your goals for the New Year & I’m here to share a few ways I’ll be setting myself up to achieve my financial goals this year. I’m no financial guru, but I’ve learned a few things after falling on my face enough times & I’m sharing a few ways to save and to curb spending.

No Spend Month

A no spend month is exactly what it sounds like, it’s a detox for the bank account. When our family has done a no spend month in the past, it’s given us a good look at the unnecessary purchases we make each month that we could possibly prevent making in the future.

Expand Your Knowledge

Take some time to brush up on financial topics you might not be as comfortable with through online resources and articles. Regions Bank has Insights, an online library of articles that offer advice, guidance and education on a huge range of financial topics. With topics ranging from creating a budget, to buying your first home, saving for retirement, there are articles for any stage of life.

Track Your Finances

Tracking your finances is made easy these days with services like online banking offered by most banks. Thank goodness we aren’t relying on balancing a checkbook on the daily for every cup of coffee and swipe of the card. Start tracking how much you spend monthly on eating out, coffee, shoes or even on the morning muffin you grab on the way to work every morning. Total those up for a month & it might surprise you how much you can spend with all those “Oh, this is only $4.99” purchases every day.

Stop Eating Out

This is my hands down, “I want something pretty” saving technique. Right now I’m saving up for a new sofa & I’ve calculated by just not eating out for two months, I will have enough for the sofa I have my eye on. I’ll happily cook dinner on the weekends if it means I’ll be eating takeout on a new sofa in a few months.

Inspired to change your financial situation in 2020? Stop by the new Regions Bank branch in the Houston Area

Spring Cypress

17465 Spring Cypress Road

Cypress, TX 77429

Grand Opening Event: Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 10:30am-1:00pm

Although I am not currently looking for a new bank, I had the opportunity to visit the new Spring Cypress Regions branch location and learn about a few of the features they have available to their customers:

  • Regions Video Banking ATM (VTM)- these Video Banking ATMs connect customers with a Regions Video Banker via live two-way video.  Along with processing most transactions that can be completed inside of a branch, Video Bankers can help customers with account maintenance and general inquiries as well.  VTMs are available during extended hours on weekdays, plus weekends and most holidays.
  • DepositSmart ATM- For customers that do not need to connect with a Regions Banker in the branch or via VTM, I learned Regions’ DepositSmart ATMs can dispense cash, transfer funds, cash checks, make deposits and provides mini-statements at any time, day or night.
  • 24 Hour Banking Vestibule – Customers can gain access to the Walk up VTM and ATMs in the 24/7 in the Banking Vestibule. If the branch is not open, I learned how customers can gain access to the vestibule by using their Driver’s License to unlock the door.
  • Drive Thru – The drive thru’s are equipped with Regions Video Banking ATMs and Deposit Smart ATMs to help with banking needs on-the-go. Customers can cash checks, deposit funds, check balances or speak directly with a live Regions Banker with the added convenience of never having to leave their car!
  • Instant Issue Debit Cards – With Instant Issue Debit Cards, customers can walk into the Spring Cypress branch in Houston and walk out with a new Visa ® CheckCard during the same visit. If a customer misplaces their card, experiences fraud, or needs to replace their check card for any reason, the branch can issue a new one the same day.
