Getting ready for any trip involves lots of research for me, I love getting an idea of what to expect & hope to share the knowledge I have through my families travels with you to make your next trip as successful as possible. We took our family’s first ski trip this month and it was filled with adventure, good eats & even better memories so I’m sharing where we stayed in Winter Park along with what we did & what we ate in Winter Park, CO. It was a trip I’d do all over again but maybe make it even longer of a stay next time!

How to Get to Winter Park, CO

On many trips, we opt to rent a car but being from Texas & knowing there would be so much snow, our family used Home James Transportation to get to & from Winter Park Resort since we knew that everything we would need for this trip would be at the resort. This was the first time for us to use a shuttle service but my husband remarked how nice it was to be able to put on a podcast & unwind instead of having to be focused on driving. Getting to Winter Park, CO from Denver, CO takes approx 90 minutes depending on traffic and weather.

Where to Stay in Winter Park, CO

Winter Park Resort – 85 Parsenn Rd, Winter Park, CO 80482

Winter Park Resort is made up of several places to lodge, we stayed at Zephyr Mountain Lodge which is the only true ski-in/ski-out accommodation at the base of Winter Park Resort! It was amazing how our Winter Park condo was nestled so close to the gondola that it just was a brief elevator ride & brief walk to skiing, shops, restaurants and so much more!

Everything we did & went on this trip we walked to from our condo in the heart of Winter Park, CO. It would be our top choice for lodging in Winter Park, CO since it was so convenient for our family of four. We loved that we had a full kitchen, two bathrooms & two bedrooms to give us enough room to stretch out at the end of the day. There are plenty of options, no matter what size your travel group is.

What to Do in Winter Park, CO

Skiing in Winter Park, CO – Skiing in Winter Park is so simple, especially if you are staying in the resort! We had an in-room ski fitting the night we arrived so that the next morning when we had our ski lessons together as a family, we would be ready to roll! The resort is a ski-in/ski-out location that makes skiing with kids a breeze.

There is a reason that Winter Park was voted #1 Ski Resort in North America two years in a row by USA Today readers! The vast variety of Winter Park’s territories is in a league of its own! I highly recommend taking ski lessons with one of Winter Park’s knowledgable ski instructors if it’s your first time or if you’re feeling rusty. Our ski instructor made me feel so confident in my abilities along with squashing my fear of the ski lifts!

Snow Tubing in Winter Park, CO

Can you even have a winter wonderland getaway without snow tubing with the kids (or even without!)?! The Coca-Cola Tube Park is located a quick walk from Vintage Hotel, you check-in at the Hill House that sells refreshments (hot cocoa & cookies after tubing in amazing!) & is a great spot to warm up. There are three lanes at the Coca-Cola Tube Park depending on your need for speed & a covered conveyor lift ride back to the top to do it all again!

Snowcat Tour in Winter Park, CO

Exploring the terrain & history of Winter Park, CO all from the comfort of a snowcat tour was perfect after tubing! On an unexpected turn, our snowcat tour was longer than expected because of all the snow & wind the gondola that would usually take us back down the mountain closed down, so our snowcat tour was extended & took us back down the mountain with additional facts about this historic land! My husband & I love exploring the history of places we visit and this was an exceptional way to do that.

Hot Tubing in Winter Park, CO

This is not something my husband ever wanted to do. Like ever. My son & I just LOVE a hot tub, add in a winter wonderland for the ultimate mid-day activity. I highly recommend a midday soak if you like to have the hot tub to yourself or have children since most people are out skiing during the day.

Where to Eat in Winter Park, CO

Doc’s Roadhouse – When we made it to Winter Park, CO after our day of traveling we headed straight to Doc’s Roadhouse for a quick dinner. The environment is so cozy, down to earth & I loved that we didn’t feel the need to get dressed up because the last thing I want after a travel day or day of skiing is to get dressed up. I still can’t stop thinking about the Tijuana Street Corn Hummus & the Cadillac MAC, the Cadillac MAC is a sandwich filled with chopped brisket & mac n cheese that was just AMAZING!!!

Starbucks – Of course, Winter Park, CO has a Starbucks because a coffee fix is a must during any vacation!

Goody’s Mountain Creperie – When it comes to breakfast places in Winter Park, CO, Goody’s made our whole family’s favorite breakfast of the trip. Goody’s was such a QUICK & filling breakfast for us. While the kid’s stuck with baked goodies, my husband & I grabbed french toast and a savory crepe that was cooked up quickly so we made it to our snow tubing time slot on time still! The prices are also very good for such a tasty breakfast.

Lime – Being from Texas, I know a good taco & honestly I didn’t have high hopes but OMG YUM! Tacos must have delicious meat and high-quality ingredients & it’s insane how well everything was seasoned! And go for the queso & chips guys, everything we tried was delicious!

Pizza Pedal’r – Thin, crispy delicious pizza made with high-quality ingredients in Winter Park, CO with such a fun vibe! All the pizza is hand-tossed & made as ordered, even the single slices! And if your family is completely wiped out from a day of fun, you can order in, pick up & take it to your room for a family pizza night in!
