One thing our family LOVES is gingerbread houses. And it seems like you can find them for every major holiday now a days! And when I spotted this amazingly cute kit with 5 houses, I was a bit smitten. Micah absolutely adores doing crafts as a family, so I immediately threw this in my cart for the next weekend night we had free.
Five adorable houses for the price of one kit, so dang perfect. I wouldn’t have to share a house with my husband or son. We are all lovers of doing crafts together & all have our own opinions of what things should look like. So sharing isn’t an option for us.
There’s a time & place for sharing. It isn’t when you are doing crafts or eating donuts.
Here are my tips for gingerbread house bliss with the family!
- Put together all the houses or house first. There’s bound to be a royal frosting hog (usually my hubby).
- Put candies in individual cups, bowls or whatever you have on hand. Unlike bags they come in, they are less likely to spill over & are easier to pass around.
- CHILL OUT. Don’t direct your child or “fix” their house, let their creative juices flow. So what if it’s a icing wonderland or a bunch of smashed sprinkles on one side of the house.
- ENJOY IT!!! Take a picture, one day that kid might roll their eyes when you ask if they want to craft together.
By the way, this totally isn’t a sponsored post. My family just has a love of fun seasonal crafts, especially those that involving eating candies that are leftover. If you’re not the crafty type…you could totally buy this one & so say you made it. I won’t tell 😉
